About the Teacher: Donalee Campbell is Executive Director for the YAA and Coordinator for the YAA Teacher Training and Certification Programs. Resonating deeply with yoga philosophies, Donalee leads teacher trainings, philosophy intensives, and heart-oriented workshops and classes that incorporate yogic philosophy, esoteric anatomy, expansive breathwork, and life-enhancing principles of alignment & biomechanics in asana. She started doing yoga in the late 90’s with Anita Sielecki and was first certified by the YAA in 2008 with Teddy Hyndman as mentor. She continued her training through the YAA with Immersion in Anusara yoga, and now holds YAA Senior Teacher Status at the 1,000 Hour Level, Yoga Alliance E-RYT-500 and YACEP. Donalee is a passionate yoga teacher and trainer and a strong advocate for high quality yoga teacher training. In 2018 she sat on the Advisory Group for Teacher Qualifications as part of the Yoga Alliance Standards Review Project. Teaching Skills Workshops offer an opportunity for teachers to refine their voice and cuing skills in a friendly, constructive, non-judgmental atmosphere of sharing and learning, all under the supervision of an experienced YAA Senior Teacher & Mentor. Learn about many different physical abilities that may be encountered in a class scenario and how to ensure the safety and welfare of all participants.

TEACHERS: Wanting to freshen up your skills and work towards Advanced Training Levels? All teachers and teachers-in-training are welcome to attend and are sure to get valuable insights to upgrade their skills. Hours may be counted towards YAA Equivalency Certification, Recertification requirements and Advanced Training at the 500-, 750- and 1,000-Hour Levels.

About the Teacher: Mary LeBlanc is a YAA Senior Teacher and one of the founding members of the YAA. First certified with Friedel Khattab in 1974, she has been teaching for over 50 years.  After moving to England, Mary also certified through the British Wheel of Yoga, and trained student teachers following their syllabus. She has taught throughout the U.S. and Canada.  Mary is currently residing in Alberta once again, following in the lineage of T.K.V. About the Teacher: Teddy Hyndman is a YAA Senior Teacher and a Senior Certified Iyengar Yoga Instructor. Teddy began yoga in 1968 at an ashram in Pondicherry, India. She taught junior school in Toronto; then volunteered at an orphanage in Brazil. From South America she moved to Kyoto, Japan, to practice Zen meditation for 3 years. In Kyoto, Teddy began teaching yoga merging her yoga practice with her Zen training. Returning to Edmonton, Alberta, she raised a family, was active in rebuilding the Yoga Association of Alberta as President and is presently active in the Iyengar Yoga Association of Canada.

Saturday, February 8, 2025 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM (w/ 1 h break).   In-Person: Room #8, 3rd Floor Percy Page Centre, 11759 Groat Rd, Edmonton.  In-Person spots are limited.  If sold out and you wish to be placed on a waiting list, please send us an email at admin@yoga.ca as spaces often open up close to the class date.  Zoom spots are available. OR Livestream via Zoom.  To maintain the privacy of all attendees, this workshop is being hosted live online only. Recordings are only for insurance and quality control purposes, and will not be made available to registrants. Core Curriculum Classes offer cost-effective training and mentorship with YAA Senior Teachers and hours can be counted towards all YAA Training Programs including the Immersion Program, Teacher Training, Equivalency Certification, Recertification or Advanced Training Levels.  The sequence of classes repeats every two years and new students may join in on any date.  All welcome! – Anjaneyasana (Low & High Crescent Lunge)
– Virabhadrasana I (Warrior I)
– Parsvottanasana (Intense Side Stretch)
– Virabhadrasana II (Warrior II)
– Utthita Trikonasana (Extended Triangle)
– Utthita Parsvakonasana (Extended Side Angle)
– Utkatasana (Chair)
– Parighasana (Gate)
– Related physiology, preparations, counter/equalizing poses, variations, benefits, contraindications, and safety issues.

Pranayama: –   Nadi Sodhana (Alternate Nostril)

Theory: 

– Origins & History of Yoga
– Overview of Major Texts: Vedas, Upanishads, Bhagavad Gita, Yoga Sutras, Hatha Yoga Pradipika

About the Teacher: Donalee Campbell is Executive Director for the YAA and Coordinator for the YAA Teacher Training and Certification Programs. Resonating deeply with yoga philosophies, Donalee leads teacher trainings, philosophy intensives, and heart-oriented workshops and classes that incorporate yogic philosophy, esoteric anatomy, expansive breathwork, and life-enhancing principles of alignment & biomechanics in asana. She started doing yoga in the late 90’s with Anita Sielecki and was first certified by the YAA in 2008 with Teddy Hyndman as mentor. She continued her training through the YAA with Immersion in Anusara yoga, and now holds YAA Senior Teacher Status at the 1,000 Hour Level, Yoga Alliance E-RYT-500 and YACEP. Donalee is a passionate yoga teacher and trainer and a strong advocate for high quality yoga teacher training. In 2018 she sat on the Advisory Group for Teacher Qualifications as part of the Yoga Alliance Standards Review Project. – Related physiology, preparations, counter/equalizing poses, variations, benefits, contraindications and safety issues.

Pranayama: – Dirgha Swasam (Complete Breath) – inhale low-middle-high

Theory: 

– Yamas (Sutras 2.30-2.39)
– Ethics
– Trauma Sensitivity Awareness
